JamesaservantofGodandoftheLordJesusChristtothetwelvetribeswhicharescatteredabroadgreetingMybrethrencountitalljoywhenyefallintodiverstemptationsKnowingthisthatthetryingofyourfaithworkethpatienceButletpatiencehaveherperfectworkthatyemaybeperfectandentirewantingnothingIfanyofyoulackwisdomlethimaskofGodthatgivethtoallmenliberallyandupbraidethnotanditshallbegivenhimButlethimaskinfaithnothingwaveringForhethatwaverethislikeawaveoftheseadrivenwiththewindandtossedForletnotthatmanthinkthatheshallreceiveanythingoftheLordAdoublemindedmanisunstableinallhiswaysLetthebrotheroflowdegreerejoiceinthatheisexaltedButtherichinthatheismadelowbecauseastheflowerofthegrassheshallpassawayForthesunisnosoonerrisenwithaburningheatbutitwithereththegrassandtheflowerthereoffallethandthegraceofthefashionofitperishethsoalsoshalltherichmanfadeawayinhiswaysBlessedisthemanthatendurethtemptationforwhenheistriedheshallreceivethecrownoflifewhichtheLordhathpromisedtothemthatlovehimLetnomansaywhenheistemptedIamtemptedofGodforGodcannotbetemptedwithevilneithertemptethheanymanButeverymanistemptedwhenheisdrawnawayofhisownlustandenticedThenwhenlusthathconceiveditbringethforthsinandsinwhenitisfinishedbringethforthdeathDonoterrmybelovedbrethrenEverygoodgiftandeveryperfectgiftisfromaboveandcomethdownfromtheFatheroflightswithwhomisnovariablenessneithershadowofturningOfhisownwillbegatheuswiththewordoftruththatweshouldbeakindoffirstfruitsofhiscreaturesWhereforemybelovedbrethrenleteverymanbeswifttohearslowtospeakslowtowrathForthewrathofmanworkethnottherighteousnessofGodWhereforelayapartallfilthinessandsuperfluityofnaughtinessandreceivewithmeeknesstheengraftedwordwhichisabletosaveyoursoulsButbeyedoersofthewordandnothearersonlydeceivingyourownselvesForifanybeahearerofthewordandnotadoerheislikeuntoamanbeholdinghisnaturalfaceinaglassForhebeholdethhimselfandgoethhiswayandstraightwayforgettethwhatmannerofmanhewasButwhosolookethintotheperfectlawoflibertyandcontinueththereinhebeingnotaforgetfulhearerbutadoeroftheworkthismanshallbeblessedinhisdeedIfanymanamongyouseemtobereligiousandbridlethnothistonguebutdeceivethhisownheartthismansreligionisvainPurereligionandundefiledbeforeGodandtheFatheristhisTovisitthefatherlessandwidowsintheirafflictionandtokeephimselfunspottedfromtheworldMybrethrenhavenotthefaithofourLordJesusChristtheLordofglorywithrespectofpersonsForiftherecomeuntoyourassemblyamanwithagoldringingoodlyapparelandtherecomeinalsoapoormaninvileraimentAndyehaverespecttohimthatweareththegayclothingandsayuntohimSitthouhereinagoodplaceandsaytothepoorStandthouthereorsithereundermyfootstoolAreyenotthenpartialinyourselvesandarebecomejudgesofevilthoughtsHearkenmybelovedbrethrenHathnotGodchosenthepoorofthisworldrichinfaithandheirsofthekingdomwhichhehathpromisedtothemthatlovehimButyehavedespisedthepoorDonotrichmenoppressyouanddrawyoubeforethejudgmentseatsDonottheyblasphemethatworthynamebythewhichyearecalledIfyefulfiltheroyallawaccordingtothescriptureThoushaltlovethyneighbourasthyselfyedowellButifyehaverespecttopersonsyecommitsinandareconvincedofthelawastransgressorsForwhosoevershallkeepthewholelawandyetoffendinonepointheisguiltyofallForhethatsaidDonotcommitadulterysaidalsoDonotkillNowifthoucommitnoadulteryyetifthoukillthouartbecomeatransgressorofthelawSospeakyeandsodoastheythatshallbejudgedbythelawoflibertyForheshallhavejudgmentwithoutmercythathathshewednomercyandmercyrejoicethagainstjudgmentWhatdothitprofitmybrethrenthoughamansayhehathfaithandhavenotworkscanfaithsavehimIfabrotherorsisterbenakedanddestituteofdailyfoodAndoneofyousayuntothemDepartinpeacebeyewarmedandfillednotwithstandingyegivethemnotthosethingswhichareneedfultothebodywhatdothitprofitEvensofaithifithathnotworksisdeadbeingaloneYeaamanmaysayThouhastfaithandIhaveworksshewmethyfaithwithoutthyworksandIwillshewtheemyfaithbymyworksThoubelievestthatthereisoneGodthoudoestwellthedevilsalsobelieveandtrembleButwiltthouknowOvainmanthatfaithwithoutworksisdeadWasnotAbrahamourfatherjustifiedbyworkswhenhehadofferedIsaachissonuponthealtarSeestthouhowfaithwroughtwithhisworksandbyworkswasfaithmadeperfectAndthescripturewasfulfilledwhichsaithAbrahambelievedGodanditwasimputeduntohimforrighteousnessandhewascalledtheFriendofGodYeseethenhowthatbyworksamanisjustifiedandnotbyfaithonlyLikewisealsowasnotRahabtheharlotjustifiedbyworkswhenshehadreceivedthemessengersandhadsentthemoutanotherwayForasthebodywithoutthespiritisdeadsofaithwithoutworksisdeadalsoMybrethrenbenotmanymastersknowingthatweshallreceivethegreatercondemnationForinmanythingsweoffendallIfanymanoffendnotinwordthesameisaperfectmanandablealsotobridlethewholebodyBeholdweputbitsinthehorsesmouthsthattheymayobeyusandweturnabouttheirwholebodyBeholdalsotheshipswhichthoughtheybesogreatandaredrivenoffiercewindsyetaretheyturnedaboutwithaverysmallhelmwhithersoeverthegovernorlistethEvensothetongueisalittlememberandboastethgreatthingsBeholdhowgreatamatteralittlefirekindlethAndthetongueisafireaworldofiniquitysoisthetongueamongourmembersthatitdefileththewholebodyandsettethonfirethecourseofnatureanditissetonfireofhellForeverykindofbeastsandofbirdsandofserpentsandofthingsintheseaistamedandhathbeentamedofmankindButthetonguecannomantameitisanunrulyevilfullofdeadlypoisonTherewithblessweGodeventheFatherandtherewithcursewemenwhicharemadeafterthesimilitudeofGodOutofthesamemouthproceedethblessingandcursingMybrethrenthesethingsoughtnotsotobeDothafountainsendforthatthesameplacesweetwaterandbitterCanthefigtreemybrethrenbearoliveberrieseitheravinefigssocannofountainbothyieldsaltwaterandfreshWhoisawisemanandenduedwithknowledgeamongyoulethimshewoutofagoodconversationhisworkswithmeeknessofwisdomButifyehavebitterenvyingandstrifeinyourheartsglorynotandlienotagainstthetruthThiswisdomdescendethnotfromabovebutisearthlysensualdevilishForwhereenvyingandstrifeisthereisconfusionandeveryevilworkButthewisdomthatisfromaboveisfirstpurethenpeaceablegentleandeasytobeintreatedfullofmercyandgoodfruitswithoutpartialityandwithouthypocrisyAndthefruitofrighteousnessissowninpeaceofthemthatmakepeaceFromwhencecomewarsandfightingsamongyoucometheynothenceevenofyourluststhatwarinyourmembersYelustandhavenotyekillanddesiretohaveandcannotobtainyefightandwaryetyehavenotbecauseyeasknotYeaskandreceivenotbecauseyeaskamissthatyemayconsumeituponyourlustsYeadulterersandadulteressesknowyenotthatthefriendshipoftheworldisenmitywithGodwhosoeverthereforewillbeafriendoftheworldistheenemyofGodDoyethinkthatthescripturesaithinvainThespiritthatdwellethinuslustethtoenvyButhegivethmoregraceWhereforehesaithGodresisteththeproudbutgivethgraceuntothehumbleSubmityourselvesthereforetoGodResistthedevilandhewillfleefromyouDrawnightoGodandhewilldrawnightoyouCleanseyourhandsyesinnersandpurifyyourheartsyedoublemindedBeafflictedandmournandweepletyourlaughterbeturnedtomourningandyourjoytoheavinessHumbleyourselvesinthesightoftheLordandheshallliftyouupSpeaknoteviloneofanotherbrethrenHethatspeakethevilofhisbrotherandjudgethhisbrotherspeakethevilofthelawandjudgeththelawbutifthoujudgethelawthouartnotadoerofthelawbutajudgeThereisonelawgiverwhoisabletosaveandtodestroywhoartthouthatjudgestanotherGotonowyethatsayTodayortomorrowwewillgointosuchacityandcontinuethereayearandbuyandsellandgetgainWhereasyeknownotwhatshallbeonthemorrowForwhatisyourlifeItisevenavapourthatappearethforalittletimeandthenvanishethawayForthatyeoughttosayIftheLordwillweshallliveanddothisorthatButnowyerejoiceinyourboastingsallsuchrejoicingisevilThereforetohimthatknowethtodogoodanddoethitnottohimitissinGotonowyerichmenweepandhowlforyourmiseriesthatshallcomeuponyouYourrichesarecorruptedandyourgarmentsaremotheatenYourgoldandsilveriscankeredandtherustofthemshallbeawitnessagainstyouandshalleatyourfleshasitwerefireYehaveheapedtreasuretogetherforthelastdaysBeholdthehireofthelabourerswhohavereapeddownyourfieldswhichisofyoukeptbackbyfraudcriethandthecriesofthemwhichhavereapedareenteredintotheearsoftheLordofsabaothYehavelivedinpleasureontheearthandbeenwantonyehavenourishedyourheartsasinadayofslaughterYehavecondemnedandkilledthejustandhedothnotresistyouBepatientthereforebrethrenuntothecomingoftheLordBeholdthehusbandmanwaitethforthepreciousfruitoftheearthandhathlongpatienceforituntilhereceivetheearlyandlatterrainBeyealsopatientstablishyourheartsforthecomingoftheLorddrawethnighGrudgenotoneagainstanotherbrethrenlestyebecondemnedbeholdthejudgestandethbeforethedoorTakemybrethrentheprophetswhohavespokeninthenameoftheLordforanexampleofsufferingafflictionandofpatienceBeholdwecountthemhappywhichendureYehaveheardofthepatienceofJobandhaveseentheendoftheLordthattheLordisverypitifulandoftendermercyButaboveallthingsmybrethrenswearnotneitherbyheavenneitherbytheearthneitherbyanyotheroathbutletyouryeabeyeaandyournaynaylestyefallintocondemnationIsanyamongyouafflictedlethimprayIsanymerrylethimsingpsalmsIsanysickamongyoulethimcallfortheeldersofthechurchandletthemprayoverhimanointinghimwithoilinthenameoftheLordAndtheprayeroffaithshallsavethesickandtheLordshallraisehimupandifhehavecommittedsinstheyshallbeforgivenhimConfessyourfaultsonetoanotherandprayoneforanotherthatyemaybehealedTheeffectualferventprayerofarighteousmanavailethmuchEliaswasamansubjecttolikepassionsasweareandheprayedearnestlythatitmightnotrainanditrainednotontheearthbythespaceofthreeyearsandsixmonthsAndheprayedagainandtheheavengaverainandtheearthbroughtforthherfruitBrethrenifanyofyoudoerrfromthetruthandoneconverthimLethimknowthathewhichconverteththesinnerfromtheerrorofhiswayshallsaveasoulfromdeathandshallhideamultitudeofsins
